Jaysus, we’re in Cork boyo!
Whilst I was absolutely blown away by the first season of Heroes, I’m feeling more than a little underwhelmed by season 2 so far.
I expected the worst as soon as I saw ‘Cork, Ireland’ appear on screen to let us know where we were, and as soon as the first actor opened his mouth I wasn’t to be disappointed. Not since Tom Cruise’s woeful Oirish accent attempt in Far and Away (“Oi luv ya, Shannen!”) have I heard anything as abysmal. Were there no Irish actors to be found? Were there no American actors who could at least try to make an effort?
Granted - if you were to put a native Cork speaker on screen, then NBC would have a hell of a lot of irate viewers from across the US calling up wondering why the subtitles aren’t working. But seriously - there has to be a happy medium here?
Maybe the lacklustre storylines are going to pick up at some point too.
